Use this data transfer calculator when you know a link speed and want to estimate how much data can move during a fixed window. It helps with backup windows, file replication, ingest planning, WAN scheduling, media delivery, and capacity conversations where bandwidth and time must be translated into usable data volume.
Bytes per second = bits per second / 8 when the speed unit is Mbps or Gbps.
Transferred bytes = bytes per second x duration seconds.
Decimal GB = bytes / 1,000,000,000.
Binary GiB = bytes / 1,073,741,824.
A 100 Mbps connection running for 8 hours can move 100,000,000 bits per second x 28,800 seconds / 8 = 360,000,000,000 bytes. That is about 360 GB decimal, or about 335 GiB, before overhead, packet loss, throttling, and real application behavior.
